Abstract

This study aims to demonstrate that multiple parenthood can be a legal solution to protect biological grandparents' rights in cases of unilateral adoption. Therefore, the article is dedicated to enforce the evolution of adoption in Brazilian law and to establish the characteristics of unilateral adoption. Finally, grandparents' rights with respect to grandchildren are demonstrated, with the multiple parenthood as a solution to prevent the breaking of ties with the biological grandparents, since this new form of parenthood allows the accumulation of emotional and biological kinships.
